We’re excited to announce that Demon Electric has partnered with The Center for Active Transportation (TCAT). It is managed by the Clean Air Partnership, a non-profit organization aimed at minimizing air pollution. As the leader in active transportation research, policy solutions, and evidence-based programming, it guides the transportation work within Ontario, across Canada and beyond. TCAT has a vision of a vibrant city with clean air, and it hopes to develop a transportation system that prioritizes walking and cycling. This active transportation would not only play a crucial role in creating environmentally friendly and economically sustainable cities, but also ensuring that the population is healthy.

In line with their vision, TCAT is working with Markham cycles, and Newmarket cycles on a collaborative project called The Bicycle Lending Library. One of their goals is to reduce transport-related greenhouse gas emissions in Markham and Newmarket. With a local library card, riders above 18 are allowed to borrow bicycles and a myriad of accessories for free, such as helmets and bike locks. A maximum of 3 items can be borrowed at a time. Bikes are rented out through a first-come, first-served basis, and they can be held for up to 2 weeks. In Markham, the Bicycle Lending Library is available at Milliken Mills Community Center and Centennial Community Center, and it is open every Tuesday, from 10 AM – 6:30 PM. In Newmarket, the lending Library is located at NewMakeIt, on 621 Timothy St, Newmarket, and begins July 20th at 3:30 pm.

On top of that, our service is quite flexible too. Riders can always pause their ride to work on something else, as well as reserving a bike for up to 24 hours beforehand.
